Regional ICT Skills Framework
Suggested by the Regional ICT Skills Learner Support Consortium, this Framework simplifies possible progression routes for a range of ICT Skills. There are currently over 1000 different ICT qualifications available in the Region confusing support organisations, employers and individual learners.
The MRS Consultancy Ltd is responsible for making it easier for people to give and receive information about how to improve their ICT skills and promoting the benefits this can bring.
The Framework has six main skill areas:
hardware, networks, systems, programming, content and user. The qualifications associated
with these areas have been mapped by FD Learning, on contract to MRS, according to various
classifications such as level and accreditation type.
Currently, MRS has been working with Symularity to develop the results of the mapping into a web-based tool accessible to all. Associated simple progression routes will be developed. MRS has also been gathering case studies from across the Region to act as exemplars in each of the areas. A Skills Gap Analysis tool will also be available from June 2003.
Further developments will include the mapping of competencies into the various areas and levels, based on National Standards.
