SEEL (Supporting Excellence in E-Learning)
The SEEL Project has been developed in response to a growing recognition that learning in a knowledge economy and society probably requires the development of new skills, new visions and new models that will diverge from traditional approaches. This new e-learning environment will therefore require new quality assurance models to ensure that its potential is fully exploited.
A key activity of the project is gathering information in order to carry out benchmarking exercises that will lead to an identification of good practice. The project looks at all aspects of e-learning - from technical issues to pedagogical approaches and places particular emphasis on the issue of 'inclusivity'.
MRS's involvement includes:
- carrying out a comparative study into how the local authorities within our region implement quality assurance schemes.
- assessing the current and potential impact on local and regional development.
It is hoped that one of the major outcomes of the project will be the establishment of a European network of regional resource centres of excellence in e-learning. This network will develop forward-looking models to assist local and regional authorities and policies to deploy a high quality infrastructure and service. In turn this initiative will make a major contribution towards Europe being recognised as a leading provider of quality e-learning services and products.
